BARK originally started in 2003 as an intimate, personal project by Miwako Yoshioka, when she was invited to sell her creations in jewellery boutiques while studying at Guildhall University’s Sir John Cass Department of Art.
Upon graduating, in 2005, she went on to launch her first official collection at Paris Fashion Week, which was instantly hailed as a success, and subsequently led her to work with over 30 stockists worldwide.
Twelve years on, she is still passionate about jewels, and continues to make all her creations in her workshop in London. But her approach is even more personal and artisanal- her focus now more than ever before is on making special pieces, sometimes bespoke, that can really touch the wearer and be treasured for years to come.
Born in Japan, and brought up in Europe, she prides herself on fusing the best of both worlds. Her designs are heavily inspired by European designs from the bygone era, to which she adds her own playful twist, and carefully crafts with Japanese attention to detail.
Welcome to the world of BARK, where elements of the modern and the nostalgic, the beautiful and the kitsch, the eccentric and the curious meet.
